Actor
Prashanth Gunasekaran was born in Malaysia, and moved to New Zealand with his family in 2003. He won the Best Supporting Actor award at the National Sheila Winn Shakespeare Festival and later pursued Theatre Studies at the University of Otago, where he directed his first stage show, Gum & Goo, a dark satire comedy. Prashanth transitioned into filmmaking, first working as a 1st AD on the award-winning NZ Indie Urban Turban (2014), and later co-directing the Maori film Destina (2013).
Prashanth has since directed and produced several films, including T-Junction ‘Dil Na Jaane’ (2016), Give Me the Gun(2016), and Don’t ‘F’ with Me (2022), gaining recognition at indie film festivals worldwide. His collaboration with mentor Ken Khan led to roles in multiple international productions, such as The Colour of Darkness (2017) and Suatu Ketika(2019). In 2024, Prashanth co-directed the NZ-Cook Island film Stranded Pearl, which had a limited theatrical release in New Zealand. He is also on top of all of this an incredible actor we are proud to represent at TMH.
